White Elephant Sale

White Elephant Sale!
Friday, Dec 14

The Grade 6 students are holding St Emily's 4th annual White Elephant Sale to raise money for their year end trip.
We are asking the community to donate gently used items (books, toys, stuffed animals, CD's, movies, puzzles, games, Christmas knickknacks, new jewellery, crafts and household items).
Items will be marked between 25 cents and $3.

Destiny Quest

Today at the library, we learned about Destiny Quest, an online search engine through our Ottawa Catholic School Board library. Our librarian explained how you can search and reserve books from our library.

Bullying - Le taxage et l'indimidation

It is Bully-Awareness week at St Emily!

There is a school-wide poster/video contest for students
and there will be bully-prevention presentations.

First block today we "stopped-and-talked" about bullying. We watched some videos and discussed afterwards. We will continue to watch a video a day this week from  Learn360. I gave students their passwords (check in your "les devoirs" duo tang).

War of 1812

By National Film Board of Canada – Office national du film du Canada

An Interactive Graphic Novel for the iPad
Bring history to life with The Loxleys and the War of 1812, an immersive interactive graphic novel that follows a fictional family from Upper Canada torn apart by the conflict with the US some 200 years ago.

Based on the book from Renegade Arts Entertainment and re-imagined for the iPad by the National Film Board of Canada, this immersive interactive graphic novel brings history to life.

Les couleurs de bases

In the month of September, we have been reviewing the visual art element of colour.
We began with an inquiry about how we can organize colours, based on our prior knowledge.
Here is what students discovered and collaborated in their groups.

We consolidated our learning by making colour wheels.
This, we agreed, is the best way to organize colours!

Curriculum Nights

Thank you to all parents who have made it out last night for Curriculum Night.

Hope you enjoyed visiting your child's classroom.

Check out our homeroom Avatars that we created on Weemee (iPad app).
Please read the postcards that the afternoon students have written for their parents.

I had a great time meeting the parents of the students I teach. Looking forward to meeting more parents on Thursday Sept 20th.

We survived our First day!

I enjoyed meeting my students and learning new names and faces :)
Looking forward to learning more about everyone this week!

Here is what the afternoon class thought about their day:

Bienvenue!
C'est le retour à l'école.
Welcome back to school!

Thank you for visiting our Grade 4 (room160) classroom website.
This website caters to both my Gr 4 French Immersion homeroom and my Gr 4 English afternoon class.
Here you will be able to learn about what we do in both classes, find important notes/newsletters, parent info and much more.
Here students will be able to check their homework, important dates and discover educational links.
