We have started unpacking our next science unit on Rocks and Minerals. As a class, we discussed and understood the Big Ideas and the Overall Expectations from the Ontario Curriculum. Based on the Overall Expectations, students inquired about Rocks and Minerals, posing several questions. Students' questions were then organized by the Big Ideas and this will lead their learning throughout unit.
I love this idea of having the students involved in the planning of the unit. Could you provide me with more details on how you did this with your students so that I could try it with my grade 5 and 6's?
